Freeman Woodwork

At the heart of the Freeman ethos is the remarkable standard of woodwork achieved in the Freeman factory. Having his own plywood rolled from trees he purchased achieved the classic finish, unrivalled even today. Mr. Summers the manager of the Freeman factory, also Mr. Freeman's nephew, still works with us and we are able to undertake most traditional Freeman projects.

Freeman Wood & Veneer

The original Freeman wood finishes can be purchased on 4 or 10mm boards of ply or as a special gasket paper Veneer. The most popular ones are generally in stock.

These are most useful if you wish to renovate cockpit sides, cupboards or interior fittings and also to build extras such as a spare table or fridge box.

The very thin veneer is particularly useful for covering bad stains, marks and old screw holes. The Freeman veneer is the genuine wood veneer professionally rolled and glued on to a very thin gasket like paper for ease of use. It can be sanded in and varnished over to blend in with your boats original woodwork.

Original Footstep Boxes

Freeman Footstep BoxMade in Freeman Ply and finished with a non slip surface, these step boxes are an ideal addition to any Freeman Cruiser or as replacements for damaged originals. Use them to help you step in and out of your boats cockpit, or simply for storage. Each box has a lifting lid and can be fastened to the boat using optional cabin hooks.

The boxes come finished with either a grey or brown non slip top surrounded with a protective traditional aluminium and rubber band.

Apart from the standard size they can be made to order to fit particular requirements. For example as a top loading fridge box or to camouflage a spare petrol/gas storage container.

Fridge Boxes

When you purchased your Freeman Cruiser from new and ordered a fridge, dependent on the model, it was often installed in a housing under the helm seat. This housing is made in the traditional Freeman style and is still available complete with the original style fridge (updated to modern standards).

Fridge boxes can also be made individually to virtually any size and to fit the fridge of your choice.

A complimentary piece of furniture to enhance your cruiser, hiding a useful appliance and making a firm base on which to install a quality helm seat. This also provides an area to be used as a handy drinks shelf.
